How Much Does Argan Oil Cost in Morocco? Price per Litre (2026)
What pure argan oil costs per litre in Morocco in 2026 — in the souks, at cooperatives, and in small bottles — why very cheap oil is a red flag, and what ARGANIVA's €120 delivered price includes.
How much does argan oil cost in Morocco?
A litre of pure cosmetic argan oil in Morocco typically costs somewhere between about 300 and 1,600 MAD (roughly €28 to €145), depending on where and how you buy it. That’s a huge range, and it’s why prices confuse so many visitors. The answer depends on three things: where you buy, how much you buy at once, and whether the oil is actually pure.
There’s no official price list, so the figures below come from published prices by Moroccan sellers and travel guides in 2025–2026. Treat them as a guide, not a rule.
Prices compared
| Where you buy | Typical price | Per litre |
|---|---|---|
| Cooperatives (by the litre, per travel guides) | 300–650 MAD / L | ~€28–60 |
| Moroccan shops & online sellers (1 L) | 650 MAD and up | ~€60+ |
| Cooperatives’ own quoted range for pure oil | 600–1,600 MAD / L | ~€55–145 |
| Small bottles in souks & shops (50–100 ml) | 120–260 MAD per 100 ml | ~€110–240 equivalent |
| ARGANIVA, delivered to your hotel or riad | €120 / L | €120 |
Euro amounts are approximate, at roughly 11 MAD to €1.
Two things stand out. First, small bottles are by far the most expensive way to buy — most tourists pay the equivalent of €110–240 per litre without realising it. Second, the cheapest per-litre prices assume you go to the source, buy in quantity, and know how to check quality yourself.
Why prices have been going up
Argan trees grow almost only in southwestern Morocco, and several years of drought have reduced harvests. Producing oil is still slow, hand-intensive work: the fruit is harvested, the hard nut is cracked open by hand, and the kernels are pressed. Less fruit and the same amount of work push prices up.
Red flags: when the price is too good
- Under about 150 MAD per litre: buying guides agree oil this cheap is almost certainly diluted or fake.
- A strong perfume smell: pure argan oil smells faintly nutty, not floral.
- No ingredient list, or a list with more than Argania spinosa kernel oil.
- A big “discount” from a very high first price in the souk: opening prices are often far above what sellers expect to get.

What €120 per litre includes
ARGANIVA isn’t the cheapest litre of argan oil in Morocco, and we don’t pretend to be. If you’re happy to visit a cooperative, check the oil yourself and carry it back, you can pay less. What the price covers:
- 100% pure argan oil, cold-pressed from unroasted kernels, nothing added.
- Delivery to your hotel, riad, villa or Airbnb within 48 hours in the cities we serve — no trip out of town.
- A fixed price, no bargaining: 1 L €120, 5 L €600, 10 L €1,200.
- Per millilitre, cheaper than the small bottles most visitors buy.

Published prices for pure cosmetic argan oil range widely — roughly 300 to 650 MAD per litre at cooperatives according to travel guides, and 600 MAD to well over 1,000 MAD per litre from Moroccan shops and online sellers. Small bottles work out far more expensive per litre.
Is cheap argan oil in Morocco real?
Very cheap oil is a warning sign. Several buying guides say that oil offered at under about 150 MAD per litre is almost certainly diluted or fake, because producing pure argan oil is slow and labour-intensive.
Why are small bottles so much more expensive?
A 100 ml bottle at 120–260 MAD works out at 1,200–2,600 MAD per litre. You pay for the bottle, the label, and the shop. Buying by the litre is much cheaper per millilitre.
